SARAH MOSK @ MDW FAIR

Harold Arts presents Sarah Mosk @ MDW Fall Showcase Booth #228

October 21st- 23rd
at The Geolofts 3636 S Iron St. Chicago, IL

Vernissage: Friday October 21, 8-11pm

Saturday / Sunday Noon to 6pm
$5 admission

The chambers of vintage interiors have been populated by landforms, a section of the floor has been removed to reveal another hidden dimension of the home, while out the window the promise of a distant gem looms like a harvest moon.  The protracted environments of Sarah Mosk seem to both reference mid-century ideas of the progress as manifest in the home, while slyly suggesting the multiplicity of the place, brought on by memory or preoccupations with distant landscapes.  Mosk samples imagery from an extensive archive of collected images to deliver compositions which obfuscate time, successfully questioning the singularity of place through manipulations of its most common representations. Recently, Mosk has utilized collage materials to generate stop animation films which both illuminate her process, as well as expound upon the suggested narratives which run through her two-dimensional works.  For MDW, Harold Arts presents recent collage work by Mosk as well as her latest animation, NO TALISMAN, featuring a soundtrack by French sound artist Felicia Atkinson. Atkinson and Mosk both attended the Harold Classic residency this past summer, where this multimedia collaboration began.

Bindlestiff Family Cirkus/HaroldArts Benefit

UPDATE! Ricochet Project had to cancel due to personal reasons. We wish them the best. Fortunately, the amazing Bindlestiff Family Cirkus has stepped in to replace them. updated event info follows:

The Brilliant Corners of Popular Amusements Festival in Chicago’s Eckhart Park is partnering with Harold Arts for a unique fundraising opportunity Friday, Sep 16, 2011 7PM in Eckhart Park - @ The Magic City Tent, Chicago, IL.

The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus has toured the world since 1994, reminding audiences of all ages that the immediacy, intimacy and viscerality of live entertainment can never be experienced in front of a media screen. The roots of Bindlestiff's style extend deep into NYC's underground community of drag queens, pranksters, political activists and arts outsiders, while embodying a deep understanding and appreciation of the history of American popular entertainment and the illegitimate theater traditions of vaudeville, music hall, burlesque and sideshow. In addition to bringing the Cirkus show to festivals and theaters all over the world, other Bindlestiff activities include The Cavalcade of Youth, a professional showcase for emerging circus and variety artists under the age of 21; running Cirkus Skills afterschool programs in NYC and the Hudson Valley; producing the New York City Unicycle Festival, and with Modern Myth Cinema, documenting the sawdust and glitter of Cirkus Life in "The Bindlestiffs". www.bindlestiff.org www.TheBindestiffs.com

When you buy a ticket to The Bindlestiff's show on Saturday Sep 16th in advance, half of all proceeds will be donated to Harold Arts. Tickets are only $15 and are sure to go quickly.

All proceeds from this event are earmarked for improvements to the facilities at our artist/musician residency program in beautiful Chesterhill Ohio, including our brand new Amish-built Artist studio building, with two stories, ample studio space, and beautiful views of our tree farm.

This is a great opportunity to support Harold Arts by simply going to a great show that you probably would have gone to anyway!
